Love this album – perfect for summer

I love it. It’s very different from the stuff they’ve done in the past but still very Daft Punk. The disco throwback sound is very cool.

Quite honestly, I am extremely disappointed. These guys have always taken the gloves off as far as fitting in to what was normal for the time but this time around, I don’t think they hit it just right. I expected so much more. This slow disco thing is awful. Even there most popular song “Get Lucky” is just alright. I downloaded a different version of the song because I don’t even think Daft Punk themselves gave it enough justice. Also I know Daft Punk usually takes their time when comes to getting somewhere with their song (a lot of build up) but the point of a build up is to get somewhere! Their song “Contact” never got anywhere. The entire song is a build up to NO WHERE! Yet, I enjoy it more than the others because it is the closest song you can come by that is close to their old sound. I am still in shock from this album. I know they are better than that. I grew up with these guys.

This album is incredible! The only reason it is not their best album is because nothing will ever beat discovery. RAM has not even made it out of my cd player in my car since the first day. It has been constantly playing. Yeah it is a new sound which is why it is a new album and not “Homework 2” but what Daft Punk possesses is far and away the best ear for a great sound out of any band ever. I can not wait to see if they tour

Ice_flow took the words straight from my mouth! I agree with you 100%! RAM is a really good album, it doesn’t sounds like your typical EDM So I feel that’s why people don’t like it. I suggest you all go watch the “creators project” vids with the people who worked on this album with Daft Punk. Its really amazing and makes you love it even more. Watch the Todd Edwards one especially then go listen to “Fragments of time”, it made me love that song 100% more than I did before. Also grab the June issue of rolling stone, pretty amazing stuff. Daft Punk knows what their doing, they took the “risk” for a reason and knew not everyone would love it. Not everyone wants to hear the same typical noise you hear all day everyday and they knew we wanted something more than that…

I can’t get enough! This album resonates on so many levels, truly a masterpiece!

Great writting and musicianship! I love the mix of styles and textures, and the improvisational elements. Congrats on a fantastic album!

This album has taken me places that music has never taken me to before. And has completely changed my perception of what real music is. The duo have truly mastered the art of sound.

I bought the CD because my store didn’t receive any vinyls the week of the release and a week later my store got shipment of the vinyls, bought it that day. I would buy it in cassette form if they sold it. OBSESSED WITH THIS ALBUM. I am promoting this album to EVERYONE i talk to. If it wasn’t different than the rest of their other songs then where would the surprise be.
Mike says
They did it right and everybody will be dancing, perfect album

Loved the album and it’s definately one of my new favourite summer albums. You can just tell that the boys made an effort and took a risk, which in the end paid off. Love the Funky guitar Chops (thanks Neil) and the groove of the record. You know somethings good when you start bobbing your head without noticing. Contact, for me, is easily the strongest track on this, having the most dynamics, great build up and just tonnes of energy. Get lucky, game of love and loose yourself to dance are all also really strong tracks as well. Happy DP put this out and hope it will inspire more electronic musicians to get back to real instruments. This was an important step to take

Heard Daft Punk in a jewelry store in Paris. Immediately ran to music store to buy the album.
Bought 3 of them! Sent one to son-in-law who is a drummer. He announced that it is one of his all-time favorite albums. Who’d have thought I’d be the Mother-in Law of the Year courtesy of Daft Punk?
Fast forward to Vogue magazine on news stand. Had to buy it. Asked tween-aged granddaughters if they knew Daft Punk when I played it on my car sound system. They said no, but when the #1 Song in the world (!) came on, they knew every word. Who’d have thought I’d be a hero to my tweens?
Where were you at Diner en Blanc in Beverly Hills this last week???? Know you have house nearby…wanted you there or at least your music! Love you!

Very much enjoyed this album. One of those finds that changes your listening habits. “Get Lucky” was a little played out this summer, but when you listen to all the tracks it fits in nicely. Would definately look forward to seeing a live show – what a party.

WOW,
First vibe I’ve heard “this” before in the early 70’s, as a kid. It was Future and “clean.”
Put the album to the side for a week. Decided to listen again, this time focused on lyrics … speechless!
Within … You take an astrophysics topic and anthropomorphically place it to “a/the robot” beautifully!!
I have become to find/enjoy EVERY song! Even with the repeated use of the funk/disco, it has remained on… everywhere. You have impressed a critic with your ability to add life to the future inanimate.
TRON SOUNDTRACK is a fav!
Peace

I like the new daft punk album but needs a couple more cool songs then it would be perfect.

Honestly I thought this album was grate, I loved all the songs and listen to them daily. My personal favorite was instant crush and Fragments of time, but I love them all really. Also they didn’t change that much from the original sound. I have listen to there older songs also, the only real difference I see is there are more lyrics. But that doesn’t mean that is a bad thing! A lot of people don’t want just dance music and sick beats they also want lyrics. All in all I was very pleased with the whole album and really crave more from these masters of music!
